Robotics.
Honestly advised.

Editorial · Mark Schuchter & Christian Bauer · July 2026

All we do, all day, is think about where robotics actually makes sense: in hotels, factories, and retail. We are not a manufacturer's rep. We are the two people who will tell you when robotics pays off, and when it doesn't.

Chapter I
Our Approach

Four steps. Concrete, not abstract.

01

Needs Assessment

Half a day on-site: we walk the floor with your cleaning or service team, measure tight spots, count routes. The result is an honest assessment, before any manufacturer enters the conversation.

02

Selection

Corridor widths, lift integration, noise, service contract, price: we compare what matters in operation, not what looks good in a brochure. The outcome is a recommendation, not a sales presentation.

03

Implementation

We set up the robot during live operations and stay on-site for the first few days. It doesn't stay until it runs reliably, not just because the invoice has been paid.

04

Ongoing Support

In the first year we visit twice. Service and warranty run through us for the first three years. We stay reachable after that too.

Case Study · Hotel Entners am See

"Not the most expensive. The one that fits our corridors."

Chapter III
When We Say No

The no that still earns us referrals.

A hotelier from the Paznaun valley wanted a service robot.

During setup we saw it immediately: routes too short, the entrance to the dishwashing area too narrow.

We left the unit there for three weeks anyway. At the end there was a bottle of wine and a genuine thank-you.

He bought nothing. We advised against it; he already knew. Sometimes the best outcome of a consultation is an honest no.

Chapter IV
Solutions

Three use cases: structured around the problem, not the manufacturer.

I · Service & Delivery

Hospitality.

From breakfast service to room service, the robot handles the distances, your team stays with the guest. Most effective where long routes and peak times coincide.

Typical hardware
Keenon T-/S-Serie
II · Cleaning

Industry, Logistics & Retail.

Where floor space becomes a permanent task: halls, foyers, retail floors. The machine handles the baseline cleaning; your team takes care of the spots that matter.

Typical hardware
Keenon C-Serie
III · Smart Retail

Retail.

Sales around the clock, without staff: automated shop solutions for locations where a traditional store would be too costly.

Typical hardware
Xpand
Chapter V
The Founders

Two advisors. From practice, not from sales.

Mark Schuchter
Mark Schuchter
Robotics · Vendor Selection · Advisory

Mark teaches robotics in the classroom, alongside building cima7. He lives with the machines, not just the catalogue.

At cima7 he is the first voice in every client conversation: measures corridors, calculates ROI, and says no when it doesn't fit. When you talk to him, you get an assessment, not a sales pitch.

"I teach robotics in the morning and install it in the evening. I only talk about what I actually do." - Mark Schuchter
Christian Bauer
Christian Bauer
Strategy · Network · Co-Founder

Christian comes from logistics and automation, most recently as managing director of a corporate subsidiary, before that he built the logistics at Red Bull from the ground up.

At cima7 he is co-founder and Mark's sparring partner for strategy and network: the big decisions are made together. While Mark leads client conversations, Christian develops the business model behind the scenes.

"I learned how to get large-scale operations running. At cima7 it's the same thing, just with robots." - Christian Bauer
Chapter VI
Frequently Asked

What people ask us first.

01What does a robot cost?

Service robots start at 8,700 euros, cleaning robots at 13,100 euros, transport robots at 15,700 euros. A one-off purchase, not a rental. Installation, training and three years of warranty are included.

02When does it pay for itself?

A service employee costs 4,000 to 4,600 euros per month in employer costs. That makes a service robot paid off in under four months. We run that calculation with your numbers before quoting, not with sample figures.

03Do you work with one specific manufacturer?

We are not tied to any manufacturer. In practice we often work with Keenon, Xpand and Caduceus because their machines have proven themselves in our projects. The choice follows your corridors, not our catalogue.

04How long does installation take?

One day. The robot maps the area on its own. Training the team takes 15 minutes. No tape on the floor, no markers on the ceiling.

05How wide do the passages need to be?

A service robot needs 49 centimetres, cleaning robots need more. We measure the tightest spots together with you on the first visit, before any model is on the table.

06What happens if the robot breaks down?

You call us in Tyrol, not a hotline. Remote diagnostics run through the manufacturer cloud, spare parts come from the EU warehouse. For the first three years, service and warranty run through us.

07Does the robot replace staff?

It takes over distances, transport and floor area, the tasks that cost time and that nobody misses. The team stays with the guest.

08Which businesses should not do this?

Short routes, narrow passages, little repetition. If that describes you, we say so before quoting. At a hotel in the Paznaun valley we advised against it after a three-week trial, and he bought nothing.

09How do we start?

30 minutes on the phone. If it fits, half a day on site: walking along, measuring tight spots, counting routes. Only then does a quote follow.

Call before you buy.

30 minutes on the phone. No sales pitch. We talk through whether robotics makes sense for you, and if not, why not.
